Northwind Apartments is rated as a 3 ½ star self
catering resort by the RACQ assessor.
How many floors does the
Northwind building have? How many apartments on each
floor?
The Northwind building has 12 floors. The 10th floor is
owner occupied. Floors 1 to 9 each have 3 apartments – a
2 bedroom apartment in the centre with a 3 bedroom
apartment on each side of the building. We also have the
ability to lock up a bedroom and a bathroom to cater for
1 bedroom apartment requests. The basement is our secure
carpark area.
What facilities do you have at
Northwind and where are they?
All guest facilities are on the ground floor level-
reception area and office, games room, gym, and sauna.
There are 2 pools heated to 27 degrees C; the main pool
is 4.5 m X 6 m with a depth of .9m at the shallow end
and 1.9m at the deep end; the kiddies’ pool is .5m deep
and 2m X 2m. The spa pool is outside, as well as the
BBQ/entertainment area and half tennis court.
What parking is available at
Northwind Apartments?
We have a secure underground parking with 1 carpark per
apartment. If guests request an extra carpark we do our
best to accommodate but only if a space is available.
There is unrestricted parking on First Avenue at the
back of the Northwind building.
What hours is Reception open?
How can I arrange a late check-in or check out? Can I
have an early check-in?
Our reception hours are 8.30am – 5.00pm Monday to
Friday; 8.30am – 4.00pm Saturday; 9.00am-1.00pm Sunday.
Check-in time is after 2.00pm Monday to Saturday and
after 12.00pm On Sundays. Please contact us if you
anticipate arriving later than these times so we can
make alternative arrangements. If you wish to have a
late check-out or early check-in please contact us and
we will try to accommodate your request. Check-outs
after 12.00 will incur a fee.
Can you book tours or airport
transfers through the office at Northwind?
The office staff at Northwind can book airport
transfers, tours with local companies, car hire, whale
watching. We have discounted tickets for Under Water
World and Australia Zoo.
How close is public transport?
Northwind is about 100m from the closest bus stop. The
bus goes past about every 20 minutes. The service covers
the Sunshine Coast from Noosa to Caloundra, Buderim and
Nambour.
How close are the cafes and
restaurants? Is there a supermarket nearby?
There is a café open for breakfast until mid-afternoon
in the building right next to us, all food on the menu
is available as take-away. The cafes and restaurants
Mooloolaba is well known for are just 50 metres away. A
Coles supermarket is 100metres away. In the block with
the supermarket is a bakery, a pharmacy, newsagent,
bottle store, sports bar, SunCorp bank, post boxes and
ATMs.
What are the bed configurations
in the apartments?
All of our 2 bedroom apartments have a queen bed in the
master bedroom and 2 single beds in the 2nd bedroom. Our
3 bedroom apartments have a queen bed in the master
bedroom. The second bedroom has either a queen bed OR 2
singles, and the third bedroom has 2 single beds.
Can we arrange for an extra
person to stay in our apartment?
The tariff covers up to 2 people in a 1 bedroom
apartment; up to 4 people in a 2 bedroom apartment; up
to 6 people in a 3 bedroom apartment. Fire regulations
limit the number in a rental property. You can have ONE
extra person at an extra charge of $30 per person per
night.
Does each apartment have its
own balcony? Does each apartment have a sea view?
Each apartment has its own private balcony. All
balconies are facing out over the Coral sea with views
ranging from filtered (1st floor) through to stunning on
the 9th floor. There are trees on the other side of the
road which filter the view on the lower levels.
Are the apartments serviced?
Can you arrange for extra linen or servicing?
Our apartments are serviced weekly. During the service
the bed linen is changed, fresh towels, hand towels,
face washers, bathmats and tea towel are provided, the
bathrooms and kitchen are cleaned and the floor
vacuumed. You can request extra linen or cleans for an
additional charge.
Are the apartments fully
self-contained?
Each of the Northwind Apartments is fully self-catering
with a full-sized fridge-freezer, oven, cook-top,
microwave oven, dishwasher, cutlery, crockery,
glassware, cookware, cooking utensils.
Are all apartments furnished
the same?
Each of the apartments at Northwind is individually
owned and furnished. Furnishings and décor vary and each
is well appointed.
Is Northwind accessible for the
disabled?
Our building is not officially designated as wheelchair
friendly. However, we have lift access to all levels and our apartments are spacious with room
to move with a walker or wheelchair.
Do you have cable TV, DVD
players, CD players?
We have 8 channels of AUSTAR available to all
apartments. Each apartment has a DVD player and CD
player.
Does each apartment have a
direct phone line? Is there wireless internet access?
Each apartment has direct dial phone access. Wireless
Internet is available through WiFi Zone. Northwind
Apartments has an Internet kiosk on the ground floor
Reception area with SKYPE. There is an internet café
approximately 100m along the Esplanade.
How far from patrolled beaches
is Northwind?
We are just across the road from fascinating rock pools
at the Northern end of the beautiful Mooloolaba Beach
and 400m from the year-round patrolled area by the
Mooloolaba Surf Club.
How far is Northwind from The
Wharf and Under Water World?
The Wharf and Under Water World are 600m
away – a 7 minute walk if you are not distracted by the
scenery or shops. Another few minutes will get you to
the end of the Spit where you can experience some of the
greatest seafood available!
How far is Northwind from
either Brisbane Airport or Maroochydore Airport?
Northwind is about 20 minutes from Maroochydore Airport
and about 1 ½ hours from Brisbane Airport. Allow extra
time if you are traveling at peak traffic times.
Do we need a car during our
stay?
Northwind is ideally situated so you don’t really need a
car during your stay with us. The beach, cafes,
restaurants, shops, supermarket, Wharf, Under Water
World, the Spit are all within walking distance. There
is also a reliable public bus service servicing
the Coast. There are car hire companies which rent cars
for a day or two. You can also book a tour or two to see
the Hinterland and other parts of the Sunshine Coast
without the hassle of driving. Many guests just park the
car and walk as Mooloolaba is pedestrian friendly, with
all amenities close by.
Are all apartment
air-conditioned?
Most of our apartments are air-conditioned. The few that
are not air-conditioned have opening windows and doors
that make the most of the onshore breeze, as well as
ceiling fans and or pedestal fans.
Can I organise a cheese and
nibbles platter or seafood platter to be in the room on
arrival?
The staff at Northwind is happy to organise platters for
guests. Cheese and nibbles platters for 2 start at
$35.00 Sea food platters are $60 for 2 people and
$100.00 for 4 people.
